Pakistan’s defence minister calls Simla Agreement a ‘dead document’, says LoC now a ceasefire line

Talking in a televised interview on Wednesday, Asif said that Pakistan has successfully returned to the 1948 place on Kashmir, and the Line of Management (LoC) is now a ceasefire line, not a proper boundary.

In his remarks, Asif mentioned the bilateral framework between India and Pakistan has collapsed. “The Simla Settlement is now a useless doc. We’re again to the 1948 place, when the United Nations declared the LoC a ceasefire line following the ceasefire and resolutions,” he mentioned. He added, “Going ahead, these disputes shall be handled multilaterally or internationally.”

The Defence Minister additionally questioned the standing of different India-Pakistan agreements. “Whether or not the Indus Waters Treaty is suspended or not, Simla is already over,” Asif remarked.

Previous rhetoric on Simla Settlement and rising tensions
