Meta Secures Nearly 800 MW of Renewable Energy to Power U.S. Data Centers – ESG Today

Fb, Instagram, and WhatsApp proprietor Meta and clear power developer Invenergy introduced that they’ve signed a collection of agreements, offering Meta with almost 800 MW of renewable power from new wind and photo voltaic tasks within the U.S. to assist its operations and knowledge heart development.

Underneath the brand new settlement, electrical energy from 4 new tasks in Ohio, Arkansas, and Texas will ship 791 MW of electrical energy to native grids, with Meta receiving clear power credit related to the brand new era capability. Three of the tasks, together with two photo voltaic power facilities in Ohio and one in Arkansas, are anticipated to start industrial operations in 2027, with the Texas-based wind power heart coming on-line in 2028.

The settlement marks the newest in a collection of unpolluted power offers between the businesses, together with an announcement late final yr of an settlement to provide Meta with 760 MW. The brand new transaction brings the partnership to a complete of 1,800 MW of renewable power.

Ted Romaine, Invenergy’s Government Vice President of Origination, stated:

Meta has set a goal to succeed in net-zero emissions throughout its worth chain by 2030.
