Mumbai’s important reservoirs are quickly approaching full capability as the town braces for heavy rainfall this weekend. In accordance with Sept. 23 knowledge from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Company (BMC), the seven main lakes supplying water to the town are collectively over 99% full,.
The reservoirs of Higher Vaitarna, Center Vaitarna, Bhatsa, Tansa, Tulsi, Modak Sagar and Vihar have a mixed storage capability of 14.47 lakh million litres. The present water ranges are round 14.40 lakh million litres as of 6 am on Sept. 23.
Amongst them, Vihar, Modak Sagar, Tansa and Tulsi lakes are already overflowing. Residents have to take precautions in low-lying areas and keep watch over native information forward of the weekend rain.
