QELNIX: Pioneering a New Shared Energy Landscape in Southeast Asia

We’ve all been there: a critical moment, an important call, a new city to navigate—   and the dreaded “Low Battery” notification flashes across our screen. This common urban pain point, often called “low battery anxiety,” is precisely what the Kuala Lumpur-based technology company QELNIX is determined to solve. But their vision  extends far beyond simple charging; they are building a connected, sustainable, and participatory energy ecosystem for the cities of tomorrow.

The Visionaries: From a Personal Pain Point to a City-Wide Mission

Behind QELNIX are two co-founders with different expertise but a shared philosophy. CEO Steve Jensen, an electronic engineering veteran with over 15 years in enterprise energy management, was struck by an idea while stranded at an airport with a dead phone and a broken charging kiosk. He questioned, “Are we using the dumbest way to solve the most basic need?” This moment sparked the mission to create an energy-sharing network that was not only efficient but also inclusive and beneficial for all.

He was later joined by CMO Patrick Tomlinson, a digital branding expert who saw a deeper potential. After their first meeting, Tomlinson famously remarked, “You’re not selling power banks. You’re connecting the nervous system of the city.” This fusion of engineering precision and emotional resonance defines QELNIX today: a company building not just infrastructure, but a trusted network that empowers its community.

Beyond Rental: A Win-Win Ecosystem for All

What truly sets QELNIX apart is its inclusive business model, the Qelnix+ Shared Economy System. This model transforms the traditional rental transaction into a collaborative platform where both merchants and users can participate in the network’s growth and success.

For Users: The platform goes a step further with its Q+ Shared Tier System, which allows users to do more than just rent. They can subscribe to shared devices and earn daily passive income based on real-world usage, effectively becoming co-owners in the platform’s success.

For Merchants: Through the Qelnix+ Partner Program, businesses like cafes, restaurants, and retail stores can host a QELNIX station with no upfront hardware cost. They not only provide a valuable amenity to attract and retain customers but also earn a portion of every rental transaction, creating a new, hassle-free revenue stream.

“The future of sharing isn’t winner-takes-all. It’s everyone-participates, everyone-prospers.”

The Southeast Asian Opportunity: A Market Primed for Growth

QELNIX is strategically positioned in Southeast Asia, a region experiencing rapid urbanization and high smartphone penetration. The market for shared power banks in Malaysia, where QELNIX is headquartered, is still in its early stages but shows immense potential. According to market analysis, the current deployment of shared power bank devices in Malaysia only meets about 20% of the potential demand, indicating a significant growth runway. .

This trend is reflected across the region. The Asia-Pacific sharing economy market, valued at $108.5 billion in 2023, is projected to more than double to $244.5 billion by 2034 . QELNIX has already deployed its infrastructure in Malaysia’s busiest commercial districts and is on track to expand to Singapore, Thailand, and Indonesia by 2026, tapping into this burgeoning demand.

Smart, Sustainable, and Secure by Design

At its core, QELNIX is a technology company. Its smart power banks are engineered for performance, safety, and sustainability. The devices feature PD3.0 fast charging, capable of powering a device to 80% in about 30 minutes. Each unit is connected via a 4G IoT module, allowing for real-time monitoring and over-the-air (OTA) system upgrades, ensuring the network is always optimized.

More importantly, QELNIX is committed to contributing to a greener future. The company uses high-density, eco-friendly battery components and is integrating green certifications into its operations. This aligns with the broader push for a Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) economy, where resources are reused and recycled, and development is balanced with environmental preservation. By providing a shared resource, QELNIX helps reduce e-waste from personal power banks and supports the transition to low-carbon urban living.

Safety is also paramount. With a 10-layer electrical protection system, QELNIX ensures that every charge is a safe one for users and their devices.

Connecting the Future, One Charge at a Time

QELNIX is more than a solution to a dead battery. It is an infrastructure layer for smarter cities, a platform for community participation, and a catalyst for sustainable habits. By transforming how power is accessed, shared, and monetized, the company is not just building a business—it’s building a network where users access power efficiently, merchants co-create value, and cities move toward greener, more connected futures.

As the QELNIX team often says, “This isn’t just our venture—it’s a citywide mission built by people who believe in it.” The journey is just beginning.
