ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka launched a raft of instruments and a nationwide digital platform for cultivation information and data-driven choice making with the help of Meals and Agriculture Group of the United Nations (FAO) and Gates Basis.
The federal government on Thursday launched the Agriculture Enterprise Structure Framework, Agriculture Interoperability Framework, Information Sharing Insurance policies, and CROPIX, a nationwide digital platform for crop information and decision-making.
The launch marked the formal introduction of a unified digital basis designed to modernize agricultural governance, enhance service supply, and allow evidence-based decision-making throughout the sector, the FAO stated in an announcement collectively issued with the federal government and Gates Basis.
“Collectively, these initiatives kind the spine of Sri Lanka’s rising Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) for agriculture, addressing long-standing challenges associated to fragmented information programs, institutional silos, and restricted information sharing throughout authorities entities,” it stated.
The Agriculture Enterprise Structure Framework offers a strategic blueprint to align folks, processes, information, and know-how throughout agricultural establishments, guaranteeing that digital investments are interoperable, scalable, and future-ready.

CROPIX operationalises the structure and interoperability frameworks by integrating nationwide crop registry, cultivation and manufacturing information, forecasting instruments, extension providers, close to real-time subject reporting, APIs and Open Information.
Via its net platform and cell functions, CROPIX connects farmers, extension officers, planners, and policymakers round a single, trusted supply of agricultural information.
