India adds record over 52 GW power capacity in FY26

Of this, 39,657 MW has been added from Renewable Power sources, which incorporates 34,955 MW of Photo voltaic Energy, 4,613 MW of Wind Energy. India additionally added 8,810 MW of thermal energy capability throughout the identical interval.

“This marks the best ever capability addition in a single 12 months, surpassing the earlier file of 34,054 MW achieved throughout FY25,” it added.

Additional, this additionally implies that in FY26 (as much as January), there was an addition of greater than 11 per cent to the full put in capability of the nation, the Ministry mentioned.

As of January 2026, India’s complete put in energy technology capability stands at 520,510.95 MW, comprising fossil fuel-based capability (248,541.62 MW), non-fossil gas capability (271,969.33 MW), nuclear (8,780 MW) and Renewable Power Sources (263,189.33 MW).

Throughout 2025, a complete of 48,436 MW Renewable vitality capability has been added. This contains 37,945 MW of Solar energy and 6,347 MW of Wind energy.
