Shell, British Airways Parent IAG Lead New Capital Raise for SAF Producer LanzaJet – ESG Today

Sustainable aviation gas (SAF) expertise and manufacturing firm LanzaJet introduced that it has raised $47 million, together with the primary shut of a brand new fairness financing spherical and a UK grant, with proceeds geared toward increasing the business deployment of its expertise to show waste-based ethanol into low carbon jet gas.

Launched in 2020 by carbon recycling expertise firm LanzaTech, Illinois-based LanzaJet has developed “Alcohol-to-Jet” expertise enabling the creation of SAF and renewable diesel from waste-based and sustainable ethanol sources together with feedstocks equivalent to low-carbon sugarcane, vitality crops, forest residuals, agricultural wastes, and natural waste.

LanzaJet introduced in November 2025 that it absolutely operated and produced fuels at its LanzaJet Freedom Pines Fuels facility in Soperton, Georgia. The corporate has invested over $300 million to develop the power, which has the capability to provide as much as 10 million gallons per yr of gas of SAF and renewable diesel, and already has offtake agreements in place for the subsequent ten years.

Along with the fairness financing, LanzaJet additionally introduced that has been awarded a substantial grant from the UK Division for Transport’s Superior Fuels Fund (AFF) to speed up growth of its Venture Speedbird, a main SAF biorefinery in Teesside, United Kingdom.
