Maruti Suzuki expands solar capacity to 30MWp

Nation’s largest passenger automobiles maker Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) on Wednesday introduced enlargement of its photo voltaic capability by 30MWp with two new initiatives and it targets to achieve 319MWp of photo voltaic capability, backed by an funding of over ₹925 crore by monetary yr 2030-31.

The corporate commissioned a 20MWp solar energy undertaking at its new facility in Kharkhoda, Haryana, and added one other 10MWp photo voltaic capability to its Manesar facility, it stated in an announcement.

With these additions, MSIL’s whole photo voltaic capability throughout its places has enhanced from 49MWp to 79MWp within the final one yr. Moreover, the corporate can also be growing the share of inexperienced energy sourced from State Electrical energy Boards for its consumption, it stated.

These initiatives in solar energy and inexperienced energy will assist the corporate meaningfully shift its dependence in the direction of renewable power, he stated.

“As we scale up manufacturing to 4 million items, we’re dedicated to matching that progress with equally formidable sustainable power practices. This solar energy enlargement is an important step in the direction of making a cleaner, extra sustainable power ecosystem and contributes positively to the setting,” Takeuchi stated.

By sustained efforts, the share of renewable supply of power in whole electrical energy consumption by the corporate is anticipated to achieve almost 85 per cent by FY2030-31, he stated including that MSIL is actively transitioning to inexperienced manufacturing practices in any respect its services.
