Maruti Suzuki dispatched over 5.85 lakh cars through rail in 2025

Firm’s mid-term purpose is to extend rail-based automobile dispatches to 35 per cent by FY31, contributing to India’s net-zero ambition by 2070.

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) on Monday mentioned it has dispatched over 5.85 lakh vehicles by way of railways final 12 months, a year-on-year (y-o-y) progress of 18 per cent over 4.96 lakh items in calendar 12 months 2024.

The nation’s largest passenger automobile maker mentioned its share of rail mode in outbound logistics has grown exponentially, rising from 5.1 per cent in 2016 to 26 per cent in 2025, considerably decreasing carbon emissions, nation’s oil imports and easing highway congestion.

Highest-ever

“The 12 months 2025 marks our highest-ever rail dispatch, with over 5.85 lakh items. Through the 12 months, we strengthened our inexperienced logistic efforts by way of two landmark occasions: the inauguration of India’s largest car in-plant railway siding at our Manesar facility, and second was we dispatched autos by rail to Kashmir Valley by way of the world’s highest railway arch bridge over Chenab river, a primary by any car producer,” Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and Chief Govt Officer, MSIL, mentioned.

He mentioned the corporate’s mid-term purpose is to extend rail-based automobile dispatches to 35 per cent by FY31, contributing to India’s net-zero ambition by 2070.

AFTO licence

MSIL has been selling railways as a sustainable and environment friendly mode of car transportation. It was the primary car firm to acquire an AFTO (Car-Freight-Practice-Operator) licence, again in 2013. Since FY15, it has transported over 28-lakh autos from 22 locations servicing over 600 cities pan India by way of a hub and spoke mannequin. Presently, MSIL makes use of over 45 flexi deck rakes, every with a capability of carrying round 260 autos per journey.

In CY 2025, rail dispatches from Maruti Suzuki’s in-plant railway siding at Gujarat and Manesar facility accounted for 53 per cent of the corporate’s complete rail dispatches.

“Maruti Suzuki India Ltd has adopted a complete ‘Round Mobility’ method to sustainability, aiming to cut back its carbon footprint throughout your entire automobile lifecycle — from design and manufacturing to logistics and end-of-life automobile (ELV) administration,” he added.
