Once I was a boy, rising up within the Nineteen Sixties, the USA was actually not a nation of assholes. We valued private liberty, which meant the liberty to say and assume and do something we needed, and to do something we needed so long as we weren’t hurting anybody. That is what it meant to be an American.
Our allies additionally valued that freedom, and our enemies have been the dictatorships that demanded senseless conformity to arbitrary positions held by the autocrat.
All this has gone completely out the window.
