The central authorities on Saturday introduced the recipients of the Padma Awards 2025. The Padma Awards are one among India’s highest civilian honours, introduced yearly on the eve of Republic Day.
The Padma Vibhushan has been awarded to Duvvur Nageshwar Reddy, Justice (Retd.) Jagdish Singh Khehar, Kumudini Rajnikant Lakhia, Lakshminarayana Subramaniam, MT Vasudevan Nair (Posthumous), Osamu Suzuki (Posthumous), and Sharda Sinha (Posthumous).
Whereas Arijit Singh and R Ashwin are among the many Padma Shri recipients this 12 months.
The awards are given in three classes: Padma Vibhushan (for distinctive and distinguished service), Padma Bhushan (distinguished service of upper order), and Padma Shri (distinguished service).
This 12 months, the federal government has awarded 7 Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri awards.
The awards are given in varied disciplines and fields of actions like artwork, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, commerce and trade, drugs, literature and schooling, sports activities, civil service, and many others.
The Padma Awards are conferred on the suggestions made by the Padma Awards Committee, which is constituted by the prime minister yearly.
The President confers these awards at a ceremonial perform held on the Rashtrapati Bhawan, often in March or April yearly.
