ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s President Anura Dissanayake has appointed a particular presidential investigation committee to probe alleged incidents of fraud, corruption and irregularities at SriLankan Airways Restricted and Airport and Aviation Companies (Sri Lanka) (Non-public) Restricted.
Dissanayake met with the members of the committee Tuesday (22) on the Presidential Secretariat, his media division mentioned.
“The absence of a correct investigation into the irregularities at SriLankan Airways Restricted Firm and Airport and Aviation Companies (Sri Lanka) (Non-public) Restricted has rendered these establishments largely ineffective,” the assertion quoted the president as saying.
He urged the committee to “perform a swift investigation by inspecting all of the details associated to those incidents and to offer a report with important suggestions geared toward correcting the scenario”.
The Secretary/Convenor of this Particular Presidential Investigation Committee is Ok N M Kumarasinghe, Further Secretary to the President, whereas the opposite members are Retired Auditor Basic, H M Gamini Wijesinghe, Retired Further Director Basic of Customs, Gnanasiri Senanayake, Chairman of the Nationwide Financial savings Financial institution, Dushantha Basnayake, Legal professional-at-Regulation Don Chaminda J Athukorala and Further Director Basic of the Division of Public Enterprises N A H Ok Wijeratne.
The Committee will examine alleged offenses dedicated between 2010 and 2025 inside SriLankan Airways Restricted and Airport and Aviation Companies (Non-public) Restricted, together with:
– Abuse of energy and illegal privileges by the Board of Administrators and senior administration of SriLankan Airways
– Irregularities in awarding service contracts and recruitment process
– Aviation safety lapses
– Discrepancies associated to duty-free store transactions and abroad gross sales agent’s transactions and actions
– Administrative errors, corruption, irregularities and/or exterior interference that negatively impacted the environment friendly operation of SriLankan Airways
– Corruption and irregularities within the procurement and/or leasing or acquisition of plane, in addition to items and providers exceeding ten million rupees, by SriLankan Airways throughout the interval from the 12 months 2000 to 2025.
