Sri Lanka sees 21,984 new active credit cards in December 2025 | EconomyNext

ECONOMYNEXT – Prime officers from Sri Lanka and Pakistan mentioned over significance of working collaboratively towards worldwide drug networks, the island nation’s Ministry of Public Safety stated in an announcement.

The intention of the assembly was to strengthening regional cooperation to forestall the entry of narcotics into the nation

The dialogue was between the Minister of Public Safety Ananda Wijepala and a Pakistani delegation together with the Minister for Inside and Narcotics Management, Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, Minister for Abroad Pakistanis and Human Useful resource Improvement, Chaudhry Salik Hussain and the Excessive Commissioner of Pakistan to Sri Lanka, Normal Faheem Ul Aziz.

“Each events emphasised the significance of working collaboratively towards worldwide drug networks, and the Pakistani facet counseled this system carried out by the Sri Lankan Authorities to eradicate the drug menace,” Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Public Safety stated.

Sri Lanka has intensified its efforts to fight the drug menace by way of a mixture of large-scale regulation enforcement operations and strengthened regional diplomacy.

Beneath the present administration, the Ministry of Public Safety has targeted on paralyzing the availability chains that deliver narcotics into the nation, notably from worldwide waters.

Excessive-profile raids and arrests are carried out to focus on each street-level sellers and high-level traffickers, whereas the federal government can be specializing in rehabilitating drug customers and launching public consciousness campaigns to cut back demand.

The problem for Sri Lanka is exacerbated by its geographical location, which locations it close to main trafficking routes.

Intelligence stories and diplomatic discussions point out that drug networks in neighboring international locations to smuggle narcotics into Sri Lanka.

By working with each India and Pakistan, Sri Lanka goals to create a triple-lock system that displays land, air, and sea routes to forestall the island from remaining a susceptible endpoint for these worldwide drug syndicates, authorities officers say. (Colombo/February 16/2026)
