Sri Lanka to start insurance scheme for fishermen | EconomyNext

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s agricultural manufacturing in paddy, fish, and coconut, declined in March, the central financial institution stated.

“Paddy manufacturing forecast of the Division of Agriculture for 2024/2025 Maha season, based mostly on the sown extent reported as of finish March 2025, stands at 2.62 million metric tons (3.8% decline from the earlier Maha season),” the central financial institution’s Agriculture Sector Knowledge Bulletin for April 2025 stated.

Fish manufacturing decreased by 1.8 % year-on-year in March 2025, as the rise in marine fishing actions
was offset by a decline in inland fishing actions, in keeping with the bulletin.

Home coconut manufacturing recorded a 23.1 year-on-year decline in in March 2025, however “the upward development noticed since February 2025 signifies a gradual restoration in output”.

Home rubber manufacturing noticed a year-on-year decline in February 2025, in keeping with provisional information from the Rubber Growth Division.

“Pure rubber costs in world markets noticed a slight decline in March 2025 as a consequence of secure provide and improved logistics, however additional weakening was restricted by tariffs imposed by the US on key buying and selling companions.”

In the meantime tea manufacturing elevated in March.
