ABN AMRO Appoints Sandra Phlippen as Chief Sustainability Officer – ESG Today

Netherlands-based financial institution ABN AMRO introduced the appointment of Sandra Phlippen, who at present serves because the financial institution’s Chief Economist, as its new Chief Sustainability Officer, efficient January 1.

Phlippen joined ABN AMRO in 2018, and has been serving as Chief Economist for the financial institution since 2020. She additionally serves as an exterior advisor to the Council of State, advising the Dutch authorities on nationwide and European funds issues and as a member of the supervisory board of the CPB Netherlands Bureau for Financial Coverage Evaluation. Previous to becoming a member of ABN AMRO, she was economics editor at Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad.

In her new function, Phlippen will likely be liable for main ABN AMRO’s Group Sustainability, driving the financial institution’s sustainability ambitions and integrating sustainability into core enterprise operations.

In a press release asserting the brand new appointment, ABN AMRO mentioned:

“Sandra’s appointment displays ABN AMRO’s dedication to reposition sustainability as a core enabler of our technique and day by day operations to create worth for our shoppers. Sandra has made vital contributions to this space throughout her tenure as Chief Economist and as Professor of Sustainable Banking on the College of Groningen. Her in depth experience in economics and sustainability, coupled together with her management abilities, positions her favourably to information the financial institution in attaining its strategic targets.”
