The European Union has listed Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organisation within the aftermath of Tehran’s bloody crackdown on nationwide protests, the bloc’s high diplomat mentioned in a publish on X on Thursday.
Kaja Kallas, the EU’s international coverage chief, mentioned that international ministers unanimously agreed on the designation. She mentioned that “any regime that kills hundreds of its personal folks is working towards its personal demise.”
The itemizing got here after the 27-nation bloc sanctioned 15 Iranian officers, together with high commanders in its Revolutionary Guard, over the violent crackdown on protesters. Activists say the crackdown has seen over 6,300 folks killed.
