Fire at third-party data centre hits Google Cloud services in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai

Tech big Google Cloud on Wednesday stated its site visitors originating from Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai and surrounding areas had been experiencing community disruptions and elevated latency resulting from a hearth at a third-party information centre facility within the nationwide capital late on Tuesday evening (IST).

“A fireplace at a third-party information centre facility required an emergency energy shutdown of networking tools, isolating a non-compute native Level of Presence (POP) in Delhi and lowering accessible community capability within the metro space. We rerouted important site visitors from the impacted facility in Delhi to deal with the diminished native serving capabilities,” the corporate stated.

Consequently, a subset of Hybrid Connectivity and Digital Non-public Cloud (VPC) clients could also be impacted by the routing modifications made to deal with the diminished native, latency-optimised serving capabilities in Delhi, it stated.

Google additionally defined that it was investigating further site visitors mitigations and Web Edge peering augmentation to alleviate the latency points affecting its clients.

“Prospects could expertise barely elevated latency and non-optimal community routing into Google Cloud till the affected facility is absolutely restored. There isn’t a workaround presently,” the corporate additional stated.

The corporate added that it’ll present its subsequent replace early morning on Thursday (IST).
