Cabinet clears Atal Innovation Mission 2.0 with Rs 2,750 crore outlay

The Union Cupboard on Monday authorised the continuation of the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) with an enhanced scope of labor and an allotted finances of Rs 2,750 crore for the interval until March 31, 2028. Underneath the aegis of NITI Aayog, AIM 2.0 is a step in the direction of Viksit Bharat that goals to increase, strengthen, and deepen India’s already vibrant innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem, stated the Cupboard chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

With India at rank 39 on the World Innovation Index and residential to the world’s third-largest startup ecosystem, the subsequent section of the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM 2.0) is anticipated to additional improve India’s world competitiveness.

“The continuation of AIM will immediately contribute to creating higher jobs, progressive merchandise, and high-impact companies throughout sectors,” the Cupboard stated in a press release.

AIM 1.0 noticed the nationwide formation of Atal Tinkering Labs (ATL) and Atal Incubation Centres.

AIM 2.0 now includes piloting new initiatives designed to fill gaps within the ecosystem and scaling successes by central and state governments, trade, academia and neighborhood. Round 2,500 new ATLs might be created for template improvement.

It goals to strengthen India’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem by rising enter, enhancing the success fee or ‘throughput’ and enhancing the standard of ‘output’ (producing higher jobs, services).

The Language Inclusive Program of Innovation (LIPI) programme goals to construct innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems in 22 scheduled languages for decreasing the entry barrier confronting innovators, entrepreneurs and traders who do not converse English.

Thirty Vernacular Innovation Centres might be established in current incubators as a part of this, stated the Cupboard.

“The Frontier Programme goals to create customised templates for the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems of Jammu and Kashmir (J&Okay), Ladakh, the North Japanese states (NE), Aspirational Districts and Blocks the place 15 per cent of residents reside,” the Cupboard famous.

There might be 4 programmes to enhance the throughput of the ecosystem — the Human Capital Improvement Programme; the Deeptech Reactor; the State Innovation Mission (SIM) and the Worldwide Innovation Collaborations Programme.

Additionally, two programmes — the Industrial Accelerator programme and the Atal Sectoral Innovation Launchpads (ASIL) programme — goal enhancing the standard of output (jobs, merchandise, and companies).
