Amazon Invests in 700 MW of New Carbon-Free Energy Projects to Power Future Data Centers in Nevada – ESG Today

Amazon introduced that it’s investing in 700 MW of recent carbon-free power initiatives in Nevada to energy its future knowledge middle operations within the space.

The corporate mentioned that it has signed an settlement with Nevada-based NV Power, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Power, so as to add 100 MW of geothermal energy from renewable power firm Zanskar, and 600 MW of photo voltaic plus 600 MW of battery storage from renewable power developer Primergy to the Nevada energy grid.

The corporate added that the NV Power deal will mark its first knowledge middle to be powered partly by geothermal power, and that it sees vital potential for geothermal as a scalable supply of agency carbon-free energy.

Amazon mentioned:

“Geothermal is a very thrilling addition to Amazon’s carbon-free power portfolio powering our knowledge facilities. In contrast to different renewable sources that fluctuate with climate or time of day, geothermal harnesses the Earth’s fixed inside warmth to generate energy across the clock.”
