Kimberly-Clark to Reach 100% Renewable Energy at Kleenex Manufacturing Site – ESG Today

Shopper manufacturers firm Kimberly-Clark introduced that its manufacturing facility in Koblenz, Germany is on monitor to maneuver to 100% renewable vitality by 2029, making it the corporate’s first tissue manufacturing website worldwide to realize that aim.

In keeping with Kimberly-Clark, the achievement will assist its aim to scale back its Scope 1 and a pair of emissions by 50% by 2030. The corporate stated that the transfer to renewable vitality on the plant, which rest room paper, hand towels and wipers below manufacturers Kleenex, Scottex, Scott, WypAll, Web page & Hakle, will cut back carbon emissions by 50,000 tons per 12 months.

As a part of the transition, anticipated to be accomplished by 2029, Kimberly-Clark stated that website will electrify its heating wants in addition to supply its electrical energy demand through a portfolio of European energy buy agreements of offsite renewables. Enhancements on the website will embody switching a pure fuel boiler, hood heaters and associated infrastructure to electrical.

The corporate stated that the transition is being supported by a Carbon Contract for Distinction Award from the German Authorities, a monetary mechanism aimed toward accelerating the transition away from fossil fuels.

We’re proud to execute this decarbonization venture that can unlock new applied sciences for Kimberly-Clark, enabling us to sort out the problem of decreasing direct greenhouse emissions, which signify 60% of our complete emissions.”
