Microsoft Signs Largest-Ever Permanent Carbon Removal Purchase Agreement – ESG Today

Microsoft introduced that it has signed an offtake settlement to buy 6.75 million metric tons of engineered carbon removing over 15 years, making it the world’s largest everlasting carbon removing deal up to now.

Microsoft will buy the carbon removing from the deliberate AtmosClear bioenergy carbon seize and storage (BECCS) facility close to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The ability, set to start development subsequent yr and anticipated to be operational by 2029, will use sustainable supplies like sugarcane bagasse to provide clear vitality whereas capturing carbon dioxide for everlasting storage or to make use of within the manufacturing of artificial fuels.
