Octopus Energy Invests Over $680 Million in European Wind Energy Portfolio – ESG Today

Renewable vitality investor Octopus Power Era introduced a €584 million (USD$687 million) funding to develop onshore wind vitality capability throughout Europe, buying 321 MW of onshore wind farms throughout 17 websites in France, Germany and Poland.

Based on Octopus Power Era CEO Zoisa North-Bond, the brand new investments come as international locations at the moment are turning to wash vitality, with renewables providing decentralized energy sources to allow vitality independence and safety, amid value volatility for fuel and rising geopolitical threat.

North-Bond added:

“From France to Germany and Poland, these newest initiatives are a part of a wider shift away from polluting fossil fuels and in the direction of homegrown, reasonably priced, clear energy.

The investments, made on behalf of the corporate’s Sky fund, is predicted to generate sufficient clear electrical energy to provide greater than 250,000 properties yearly.

In France, Octopus acquired 143.5 MW of wind capability throughout 10 websites situated in Hauts-de-France, Grand Est, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Brittany, Centre-Val de Loire and Nouvelle-Aquitaine. The initiatives, which embrace operational and under-construction property, are anticipated to provide renewable electrical energy to roughly 65,000 properties annually.

In Germany, the corporate acquired 4 wind farms with a mixed capability of 102.5 MW throughout Decrease Saxony, Brandenburg, Hesse and Baden-Württemberg. Two of the initiatives are already operational, whereas the remaining two are below development. Collectively, the initiatives are anticipated to generate sufficient clear vitality to energy roughly 71,000 properties yearly.

In Poland, Octopus acquired three operational wind farms within the north of the nation with a mixed capability of 75 MW, producing sufficient renewable electrical energy to provide roughly 120,000 properties annually. The transaction additionally consists of entry to a pipeline of renewable vitality initiatives below growth.

Following the funding, Octopus mentioned that it now manages 67 onshore wind farms throughout Europe and over 400 large-scale renewable initiatives throughout the globe.
